A unique player in the foreign film market, Seagull Films was formed in 1999 and has been the sole programmer / distributor of quality Soviet and Russian Films in North America ever since. A major broker of classic and contemporary Russian films, the company gained critical acclaim due to its creative and unconventional programming and distribution strategies through carefully curated thematic showcases and celebrated individual titles, from the work of such classic filmmakers as Sergey Eisenstein and Andrey Tarkovskiy to the contemporary auteurs like Alexey Balabanov, Kira Muratova and Alexey Guerman.
Seagull Films mission is to close region's cinema distribution gap and to preserve artistic integrity of the film works through restoration.
During over a decade of its intense work Seagull Films has presented hundreds of titles at highly reputable art houses, cinematheques, film societies, museums, art centers and festivals. Overall company's circuit includes more than 60 premiering venues and festivals in North America and Australia such as the Film Society of Lincoln Center in New York, Toronto Cinematheque, the National Gallery of Arts, Pacific Film Archive, Gene Siskel Film Center among many others.
