Akpéma is a ritual, in the Kabyé region (North of Togo), during which elderly women take care of the teenagers to give them an education teaching them how to become a dignified and mature woman. According to me, Akpéma is like a wheel going round. Since I was a child, I was told that the great-grandmother of my great-grandmother did it. I went through this ritual in 1995 and today, Aïcha my little sister is about to do it.
