The daily life of a group of Africans in Paris, filmed with lucidity and humor by a film-maker from the Ivory Coast.

A group of African students in Paris are reaching the end of their studies. Should they return to their newly independent homelands or should they try to forge a home for themselves in a hostile and indifferent France?
Among them, a young student returns home to the Ivory Coast after receiving his degree in Paris with the hope of perhaps becoming an ambassador one day. But he is disillusioned by the other young men he meets who are also returning from Paris.

In a very moving and atmospheric film, clearly influenced by the French New Wave, Ecaré beautifully captures the radicalism, sensuousness and ennui of the late 1960s Latin Quarter, as well as his characters' sense of displacement and isolation.
