Directed by and starring Pascal Légitmus (often referred to as the
French Eddie Murphy), Caribbean in Paris is a hilarious comedy about
a family from Guadeloupe in the French Caribbean, and the mishaps
that occur when the family patriarch's wife is kidnapped during a
business trip to Paris. Frantic chase scenes and kinetic comedy
collide in Légitmus' film about the importance of family and
community.

until Magda, the boys' mother, arrives and creates turmoil in
Shirley's household. Francken's emotional film is a meditation on the
nature of family and race relations, with stunning performances from
Merenciana and Vrede as the two sisters.

but also put forward a political and social message that remains as
potent today as ever. A young man from the countryside (Cliff) has
dreams of becoming a reggae superstar, but gets tangled up in
corruption and drug-dealing along the way. Henzell's film explores
the seedy side of Kingston, with Cliff proclaiming that he'd "rather
be a free man in my grave, than living as a puppet or a slave."

Directed by Claudette Coulanges.
This documentary about working conditions in Port-au-Prince, Haiti
centers on two women: Anne-Rose and Rosememe. Anna makes lunches to
sell to factory workers, and Rosemene works in the factory, making t-
shirts. Looking For Life dramatically illustrates the impact of
globalization on the Haitian economy.
