Hervé seeks a magic potion to seduce Laetitia. For the portion to be effective, Hervé is to apply it in his hand before greeting his beloved. But once at Laetitia's, Hervé has to shake hand with her mother at the gate. As Laetitia is about to fall in love with Hervé, the latter has to fight against the potion's effect on the mother. Hervé is caught between Laetitia and her mother.
